We are closely monitoring the COVID situation and are taking necessary steps to safeguard our staff and our customers

The development of the Forest School began in Britain in the mid 1990’s and was based on the idea which considers children's contact with nature to be extremely important.

How does it work?

Daily risk assessments will be carried out to ensure the safety of the chosen area. One of our Forest School practitioners will also make sure that safety rules, procedures, tool rules and boundaries are explained to the children at an appropriate level to their age and stage of development.

We have a wide range of Tools which the children are taught to use properly, and under supervision. These include potato peelers, for whitling, a bow saw, loppers, bill hook and sheath knife. We also have safety gloves and water proof suits for the children and practitioners. A Level 3 Forest School practitioner will constantly evaluate individual's progress and re-adjust activities to meet each child's requirement's. Tools are used in Forest Schools in a traditional woodland manner and are introduced gradually with a structured safety base that your children will become familiar with.

Each Forest School is unique, you can design it to meet the needs of the group and to fit the environment you are in.

The children will also take part in team building games which will show their social and confidence skills, they will also bring some treasures home of their days in the Forest!

Future Developements

We are committed to increasing the number of Fully Qualified Forest School Leaders in our settings. Please ask for information about which members of staff are doing this at the nursery your child is registered to.
